One of the Leadership training courses which I attended years ago discussed the movie “Apollo 13”. In summary, the space capsule that was supposed to land on the moon had an explosion 200,000 miles from earth.
The three man crew members with their leader (Tom Hanks) had all sorts of trouble achieving their goal. Against unbelievable odds, the space mission changed from landing men on the surface of the moon to returning them safely to earth. Appolo 13: True Leadership training material
Watch the movie and see how Tom Hanks exhibited a leadership style in the space shuttle. Listen to the way he reported the problem “Houston, we have a problem!". Watch the leadership style in mission control “Not in my shift”. This is a great free training session in your lounge!
However, if you watch it, you will learn different styles of leadership. Watch when Tom Hanks was settling a fight between the other two crew members. He was angry, but stay calm. He returned to his normal voice tune one mission control contacted him. A good leader Praises Loudly and Blames Softly. This movie is currently used by many training institutes. They have negotiated the copyright issue with the producer. The interesting thing about this movie is that it was made as a training material.
