Market You site: Paid Listing Search Engines optimisation (SEO)
Now that you have built and posted your site on the Internet, you need to drive traffic to it. Traffic means visitors or customers. This is where the challenge starts.
Think of marketing as building a brand name on the Internet for your site. There is the expensive way using above the line (a marketing jargon!) which involves advertisement using billboards, newspapers, TV, magazines...etc. This could cost you an arm and leg for a small website. There is the cheaper way, below the line (sorry again for the marketing jargon!). This involves the cheap way to market your website. The cheapest way is the word of mouth. Tell you family and friends about your site, colleagues at work, your kids' friends, post it at the supermarket notice board.
The Internet provided almost free and very effective way to market your site on the Internet. Search engines such as Yahoo and Google crawl the Internet sites to build their database indexes. Indexes are the keywords gathered about websites by these search engines. They use automatic software to crawl your website. This software is called Bot. It is similar to a robot, but a software one. This robot visits your site once you submit your site to it for crawling. You can do that by depending on your web hosting service provider such as yahoo web hosting or you can do it manually. The major search engines are Google (around 45% of search on the Internet) and Yahoo (around 25%).
