It also impairs the immune system. Stress is linked to strokes, diabetes,
muscle and joint pain, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), ulcers, miscarriage
during pregnancy, allergies, alopecia, just to name a few. Knowing how
to deal with Difficult people helps manage your stress.

There are two main sources of Work Stress:

1- External stressors: Form your physical work environment conditions
such as heat and cold or from stressful psychological environment
conditions such as abusive colleagues.

2- Internal stressors: This originates from your physical body ailments
such as infection or psychological problems (e.g. worrying about
something)

Why you get work stress:
    •        Feel of being bullied or harassed by someone at work.
    •        feeling powerless in determining your responsibilities and
    boundaries.
    •        lack of job security
    •        Unrealistic workload and long work hours
    •        lack of communication and conflict resolution at the work
    environment
    •        Being away from family
    •        Conflict and politics
    •        Lack of reward

How do you know that you have work stress?

•        Failing sick often
•        Having sleep difficulties
•        Loss of appetite
•        Poor concentration or poor memory retention
•        Bad temper
•        Anti-social behavior
•        Emotional outbursts
•        Food, alcohol or drug abuse
•        Nervous habits (chewing fingers)

Should you notice any of the signs above, consider the following:

•        Think why you are stressing yourself. Life is too short.
•        Resort to religion if that is an option for you.
•        Talk  to a friend about the reasons. If you identify the reasons,
removing the stressors is a step away.
•        Identify the  type of stressors affecting you
•        improve diet – check for lack of B vitamins and magnesium. Talk to
your doctor on this issue.
•        Reduce or stop the toxin intakes to your body  such as cigarettes,
alcohol. Both might seem to temporary relief your stress, but they are
working against you in the long plan to fight stress at work.
•        Exercise, Exercise, Exercise
•        Know your capabilities at work. Don't try to control things that are
uncontrollable. Instead, compromise and adjust.
•        Use relaxation methods such as yoga, meditation, massage, fresh
air, anything that works for you is what makes you feel better

Do this at work to relief your work stress:

1- Drink lots of Water (4-8 a day, make 4 of them at the 8 hours work).
2- Avoid Dehydration (Less Coffee, Coke, Red Bull, Juice…)
3- Keep a water bottle at hand, this makes it easier to grab.
4- “Answer nature calls”, go to the toilet when you have to (This usually
happens when you have lots of water (the good)
or a cup of coffee (bad due to dehydration)
5- Walk around the office, go outside for fresh air if you can.
6- Have a Fresh fruit (not the messy ones.)
7- Avoid the air-condition.
